The Upper Midwest Employment Law Institute
The Upper Midwest Employment Law Institute (UMELI) is an annual event that provides employment law education and networking opportunities for lawyers, human resources professionals, and other members of the business community.
UMELI is sponsored by the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section. The institute features nationally recognized speakers who provide attendees with the latest information on developments in employment law.
In addition to educational sessions, UMELI offers networking opportunities with other attendees from around the country. This year’s institute will be held October 3-4, 2019 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Minneapolis – Park Place in Minneapolis, MN.

Our mission is to promote excellence in the practice of law by providing practical and innovative CLE programs that help lawyers meet their professional development needs. We also provide resources and services to support lawyers in their efforts to provide pro bono legal services to low-income Minnesotans.
The Institute’s History
The Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) was founded in 1949 by a group of Minnesota lawyers who saw the need for quality, affordable CLE programs. Since then, ICLE has become one of the largest and most respected CLE providers in the country. We offer over 100 live seminars each year, as well as an extensive online library of on-demand programs. Our mission is to provide high-quality educational opportunities for Minnesota lawyers that help them meet their professional development needs.
Minnesota Lawyers Practice:
Minnesota lawyers must complete at least 45 credits of continuing legal education (CLE) every three years in order to maintain their license to practice law. Of those 45 credits, at least 15 must be “live” credits, which means they must be taken in person at a seminar or conference. The remaining 30 credits can be earned through self-study, such as listening to audio recordings or watching video replays of seminars, reading books or articles, or taking online courses.

MN CLE Login:
Lawyers can access their MNCLE account through the login portal on the ICLE website. From here they can view their transcript, update their contact information, and register for upcoming programs.
Oasis Law:
